Manhattan-based artist Hedy Klineman describes herself as an “abstract expressionist”. It is her engagement with paint and color, especially her vivifying brushwork, that truly distinguishes her as an affiliate of that painterly mid-century clan. While Klineman might not be Buddhist per se, there is a particular Tibetan emphasis to her work overall, which is evident in the images of Tibet’s Tara and Yamantaka and the lovers of Shakti and Shiva, as well as Japanese Buddha’s. Hedy's work is held in major collections worldwide.
